چکیده
S ince the first case of surgical repair of perforation of the interventricular septum following myocardial infarction was described by Cooley et all in 1957, numerous additional cases have been reported in the literature.2-12 Only a small number of these cases have been operated on during the acute stage of myocardial infarction, and of these, most have not survived the immediate postoperative period. Patients above the age of 70 operated on for this complication have rarely been reported. The purpose of this report is to describe the case of a 71year-old woman who underwent successful repair of perforation of the interventricular septum while in shock and pulmonary edema, nine days following acute myocardial infarction.

The successful surgical repair of a ruptured interventricular septum following a myocardial infarct in an 89 year old man.
This case report describes the successful repair of an acquired ventricular septal defect following an anterior full thickness myocardial infarct in an 89 year old man. Four months after the infarct the patient was in severe congestive cardiac failure (NYHA Class IV), despite medical treatment, with signs of a ventricular septal defect. This was confirmed by echodoppler and cardiac catheterizat...
متن کاملDouble rupture of interventricular septum and free wall of the left ventricle, as a mechanical complication of acute myocardial infarction: a case report
INTRODUCTION Cardiac ruptures following acute myocardial infarction include rupture of the left ventricle free-wall, ventricular septal defects, and papillary muscle rupture. Double myocardial rupture is a rare complication of acute myocardial infarction (0.3 %) and the report of such cases is exclusively limited to a small series of autopsy studies. CASE PRESENTATION In this report we presen...

We describe a technique for repairing the ventricular septal perforation 10 days post acute anteroseptal myocardial infarction using the modi®ed infarction exclusion method. The repair involves endoventricular circular patch plasty and application of gelatin±resorcinol± formaldehyde biological glue in the space between a Te ̄on felt patch on the infarcted septum and a bovine pericardial patch in...
متن کاملRupture of the ventricular myocardium and perforation of the interventricular septum complicating acute myocardial infarction.
O NE of the fatal complications of acute myocardial infaretion is rupture of the affected ventricular niyoeardium. The free wall of the left ventricle is the region usually involved, and sudden death occurs due to acute cardiac tamponade. Occasionally the interventricular septum is perforated, and the clinical signs are characteristic. Recognition of septal perforation may permit utilization of...
متن کاملSimultaneous Repair of Ventricular Septal Defect and Left Ventricular Aneurysm following Myocardial Infarction.
A successful simultaneous surgical repair of rupture of the interventricular septum and left ventricular aneurysm resulting from myocardial infarction is described. Very few similar cases have been described in the literature and in none was angiocardiography performed before operation. Preoperative angiocardiographic examination to demonstrate a ventricular aneurysm is of major importance in a...
